Hello from Georgia

I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone here. My name is Mark and am new to large format photograhy. I have been shooting the other formats for several years, and decided to go with LF. I recently bought a B&J 5x7, and am still learning the ropes. I would like to know if there are any other LF users in Georgia (Atlanta area), that would be willing to mentor a LF newbe like myself? Hi, Mark! I shoot 4x5 LF and have a darkroom and live in Roswell, Ga. I know a few other LF shooters through the local camera clubs. We need to get together sometime and compare notes and shoot.
Tell me about your kayaking, I have a Pirouette, but I'm hardly any good at it. I get dumped by class II action.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Gary & Gene It would be great if I could meet with either or both of you sometime. To learn the ropes, get some insight and go on a shoot together. If this sounds alright to either of you let me know.
BTW, I live in the Marietta/Woodstock area, so it sounds like I'm not far from either of you.

Mark, it sounds like we're practically neighbors. I like in the East Cobb area with Fulton county across the creek from me in the back yard. Are you familiar with Shallowford Road and Johnson Ferry Road?

Gary, I live in Woodstock, right next to the cobb county line near canton rd. and hwy. 92. It sounds like were 10 or so miles from each other. When and where do you prefer to shoot? I'd like to meet with you sometime. This saturday I'm going to Panola state park. they are having a Raptor exibition/demonstration. I'll be using the 35mm so I can get close with the telephoto lens. If your interested let me know.

Going to Columbus this weekend to help my wifes oldest son move into college. We might wander down to Providence Canyon from there.

I like to get out shooting anytime I have a clear weekend, which hasn't happened too often lately. I'm recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery a couple of weeks ago, but I'm ready to get out and burn some film!

As far as raptors, have you been to the Chattahoochee Nature Center? They have a few they carry around so folks can get a good look on occasion.

What say we plan a trip to some place like Rocktown at Pigeon Mountain, Lafayette fairly soon. I haven't shot there with my 4x5 yet.

You would be welcome Eric. I live in East Cobb on the Fulton County line so I'm not too far off. Mark and I have talked about getting out soon to "chase waterfalls", maybe you would join us. This weekend is tied up for me, we have a monster job at work that requires working the weekend to finish it. Maybe in a couple of weeks? Mark should have film for his 5x7 by then. Do you have a darkroom?

Eric, Welcome aboard. It would be great to all get together and do a shoot, trade ideas, info, and knowledge. I have met with Gary a couple of times already, and and found out I have a lot to learn. Gary is very knowledgable about LF and darkroom techniques. He's a good guy and a good mentor.
