Been loitering around this site for a while now and have decided its time to stop being a voyeur and start making a effort to engage !
Didn't realise all this existed until recently so my subscription's been paid and am looking forward to making my small contribution towards keeping real photography alive.

I've been a dedicated B+W worker for quite a few years, mostly in med format. Recently taken my first steps into the world of large format (5x4) which at times is having a strange effect on my mental health so I'll probably be calling on all you wise ones for some emotional support !!

If you can get hold of a copy of last Decembers B+W magazine (UK issue no66) take a look at the 'Photographer of the Year comp where I did rather well :D

Regards
Bill

hi Bill - good to have you here. I do remember your work in the magazine - very nice too. And you come from the most beautiful part of the world.

Cheers!

Hi Bill and welcome.
I am sure you have made the right decision to join us.
Know Cornwall reasonably well but not Falmouth. Coastline is not a great deal different from Pembrokeshire.
Look forward to seeing your images.
Best wishes,
John.

Hi Bill,

Welcome from Hawaii. Unfortunately, I've never been to Cornwall, but I would love to - too many places to go, not enough time.

Hi Bill.

Blimey, you totally cleaned up in that competition. Lets hope the competition returns.

Wonderfull work.

Welcome

Hi ya Bill ... from the western end of New England!

Welcome Bill, from West Penwith. Falmouth is 'up country' from where I live in Ludgvan.

Regards Daniel

Dear Bill,

Clay tips: that's about it. Much as I love my native land, it can be pretty bleak in places, especially the interior, especially in winter.

Thouars is about 15 miles north of where I live. It was the last town to fall to the French in the Hundred Years' War, so it's a rather English interpretation of the Aquitaine; the French normally call the region Poitou-Charentes.

Cheers,

Roger

Welcome to the APUG jungle Bill! (any relation to Britney?....-also remember your work from B&W.As far as 5x4 goes, you'll soon be thinking about going larger....I'm really missing LF, so I'm going for 10x8 and contacts....hubba bubba:wink:!

Welcome from another resident( not native) from Middle England. Great churches and villages so not all bad.

Oh, and a welcome from Oop Norf, in sunny-but-blasted-cold Yorkshire.

I must visit Cornwall one of these days - haven't quite made it beyond Devon yet... Does the sleeper train still run from Paddington? I know it's been permanently threatened with the axe...

Welcome Bill. Have some friends in Golant.

Hi Bill, welcome from the other side of England.

Thanks all for your warm welcome. Feels like I've finally landed in the right place.

Tim: cant tell you anything about train times, very rarely use them and don't travel much out of Cornwall. Must get out more !! I would guess the sleeper service is still running.

Black Dog: I'm scared you might be right about moving up from 5x4. Did my first contact prints from the first trip out with the camera last night and WOW!
Although there were lots of consignments to the bin, a few of them had that jewel-like quality you don't often get with enlarged negs. ULF here we come !!

Definitely:tongue:  !I've decided I'm only going to use LF and make contacts in future (unless it's totally impractical or I want a specific look and feel). Life's just a GAS at times...
