After about 9 months of lurking around, I figured that I’d introduce myself. So, hello! My name is Jen. I am from Connecticut, but right now I am living in Boston for law school -- I'm in my third year, almost done! Even though most of my time is devoted to school, I love photography and wish I could spend more time on it. I’ve been around photography my entire life – my dad is a photographer and a fellow APUG-er (Hi Dad!). As a child, I spent a lot of time in the darkroom, watching and learning. When it was time for me to try it for myself, I started with 35 mm and eventually moved up to medium format in high school and college. In college I took a few photo classes, but quickly learned that I did not like having deadlines and assignments. I am someone who likes to photograph what I want, when I want; and it's nice to not have a final product due every other week. Last December I decided that I wanted to upgrade to 4x5, so I purchased a Linhof Tech III from ebay. This semester my class load isn’t as heavy, so I’m hoping to have more time to explore the city with my cameras. Then when I go home to CT during school breaks, I will spend some time in my dad’s darkroom – and maybe even post some of my photos here.

Anyway, time to get back to studying. Just thought I’d say hello and also say thank you for all the great info! I try to read a little every day, it's a great study break

Welcome, soon to be counsellor.

There are a few of us legal types lurking about here.

And seeing how you are 3L in Boston, you have an excellent chance to start studying for the bar exam early since you will not be distracted by any baseball being played in Beantown this October! :D

Go Yankees!!!

Hi Jen,

Keep an eye on the New England forum under "Regional Groups" to see what activities are being planned in the area....

Ouch... coming from deep inside Red Sox nation... that's just mean, Mr. Ham!

Welcome, Jen! We have a pretty active group in New England, and hope you'll be able to join us for the occasional get together! And it's always great to see more women on APUG!

Very true. I was a first year when the "curse was reversed". Quite the distraction right at the time when my first big papers and quizzes were due! I could hear the games (and the rioting in Kenmore Square) from my apartment. The bright side of not being in the playoffs -- I no longer have to plan my commute around the games to avoid excess traffic

See, isn't it wonderful how the Yankees have arranged for a quiet place for you to study? As to the curse, it only gets lifted once every 84 years. :D

BTW:

1) What area of the law interests you?

2) What's the identity of that fellow APUG'er who happens to be your Dad?

Welcome from another of those legal types, from all the way over on the west coast of Canada.

I've been practising for 21 years, but photographing for twice that.

Hi Jen, seems like I've known you your whole life! OOH, that doesn't sound so good.

I really have known Jen that long, glad to see young people showing interest in the wet process.

Welcome! Steve

Welcome Dear lady. When I saw the title of the thread I thought "here is a greeting from a circuit judge". I guess this may be an example of me getting ahead of yourself.

Right now I'm interested in banking and finance law. Over the last three years it seemed as though I was just crossing off my list areas that did NOT interest me, but now I'm starting to figure out what does interest me. If that makes any sense.

And to answer your second question, my dad is Tim Jones (climbabout).

This is true. I'm very lucky to have grown up with some great teachers!

Welcome Jen. Hope that you can attend some of the NE-APUG events or make it to some NELFPC events. Will you be coming to Springfield to see your dad's (and the other NELFPC members) work at the Valley Photo Center in Feb/March?

Ah Jen. There is Ct and then there is "Northeastern NY". Don't know which part you hail from but I'm from outside Hartford and live in Boston - a fine combination by my book. Welcome aboard!
