Hi everyone,

I am joining with an interest in learning more about film photography, developing and printing. I have already learned a lot just reading and posting a few questions/problems and getting generous feedback.

I have taken to rangefinder cameras, especially a Barnack iiic, an M4, and soviet Kiev 4a, and Fed 2d. I am looking forward to shooting with a Mir that I am awaiting delivery of. I also have a Pentax 67ii which had been my father and is the only (regrettably) of his film cameras that I kept when he passed away.

We have a community darkroom here in Cleveland, which got me started developing and printing. I set up my own darkroom in my condominium unit with a Craigslist Beseler 23c. I use a spare bedroom as the dry room and the only bathroom as the wetroom, breaking it down and setting it up each session.

I have been learning from Ansel Adams' books, and am currently studying and trying his suggestions of film testing, albeit without a densitometer.

I am glad to have discovered this website and the forums and the generous and encouraging members that animate it!

the picture below was taken on the M4 with a 7artisans 28mm lens, 1/30s, f/2.0, Kentmere 400, developed in Cinestill Monobath DF96.

Thank you. I am guessing you are in Buffalo, then? What do you like most about the Kiev 4?

Yep! Niagara Falls. I like the sharp Jupiter-8 lens, the fast focusing with the rangefinder, and its style, based off the German Contax, is beautiful and classic. Mine has been shooting for 15 years without a problem, I also bought the 135mm lens for it and you can frame using the rangefinder patch size.
