Hello to all! APUG is a recent discovery to me and am I glad to have found it! What a great resource to anyone with an interest in the world of film photography. Which I have. I re-entered this world of film about a year and a half ago by taking a non-credit community college course on the basics of photography (but no darkroom work). Then I leaped into the credit courses (and believe me, it was a leap of faith for someone who hadn't been in a college course for, ooh, 30 years..). It was the real deal, it was magic..seeing those images appear on paper soaking in dektol.. What a rush.. So first semester was black and white, second semester was color (with litho thrown in..neat!) and first part of this summer spent with infrared. Infrared (using Kodak HIE) is waaay cool..for anyone who hasn't tried it, give it a shot! NOW it's independent study and I'm worrying over a concept to pursue.. But it'll work out.
Simultaneously, we (my daughter, who is just starting the "intermediate" color course) and I are in the midst of putting together a basement darkroom. Most of the major equipment has been purchased by way of eBay. But you may be seeing me on the forums asking for opinions on this or that. Glad to be here! --Lynn
