a second intro from Vermont this month...
I retired near Middlebury, VT a few years ago. Renovating and building a 'Hobby Space' keep me plenty busy, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, some of it may fall on film in a Vista 4x5 which I bought in 1985 at 47th Str Camera in NYC. I loved photography as a hobby, mostly using a Mamiya C330 and the ill-fated Rollei 2000F which I bought in 1981. Transitioning to digital I currently still use a Canon 6D - mostly to document interesting ideas in my collection of 'Obsolete Technology', which moved pre 1990 technology ahead - trying to identify what makes a specific piece 'interesting' is very subjective of course: be it Sony's first digital camera, the first commercial Germanium Transistor, Fisher's first solid state receiver, HP's amazing desktop computers of the early 80s etc.
My interest in respect to photography is now mostly in abstract photography and sound/image installations, but just in our livingroom...
What brought me to this forum is the Bolex M-8 and 18-5 in the collection - I have 'known' the 18-5 since it was new in 1961 and saw the extensive repair report by one of the forum members, this will be one of my next projects. But eventually I'd like to attack the 2000F and find out why that shutter circuit was going bad so regularly!
