Welcome aboard! It's been ages since I was in Carcassonne - I was a kid back then. I did love the Pyrenees just a little further south!

Il fait très chaud a Carcassone et je suis réfugié a Estavar un petit village des Pyrénées tout prêt de l'enclave espagnole de Llivia, espérant y étrenner une woodyman 8x10 et passer mes derniers jours de vacances with the kids.

If you want to visit the médiéval city please don't come in summer..., there are surely verticals to straighten

Yes, it's nice if you're into boardgames and whatnot. It's been ages since I played it - I'm not much of a boardgame person myself, but as they go, this one was pleasant enough. Apart from the name, I never found any clear relationship between the gameplay and your city, though.

The game (and gameplay) was inspired by the city walls. One of the goals in the game is to lay tiles to make cities surrounded by walls that look very similar to this aerial photo:

Even the colour scheme of the game is based on it:

It's an interesting game. I play it with my kids when they're willing. It's easy to learn.

I never noticed that semblance; that's nice. I always assumed they took Carcassonne as the archetypical example of a late-medieval European town and that they just picked it because it's relatively well-known as a tourist destination in the European mainland. It's a nice touch that they actually made the architecture resemble the real town!
