Hello all!
I am an electronics engineer from Stoke-on-Trent in the UK.
My first camera was a Kodak Instamatic 133 (I think it was a 133), given to me by my grandad when I was around 7 or 8 years old, then sometime in the mid to late 80s I upgraded(!) to a bright red Halina 150 with hotshoe! no more pesky flash cubes! and a huge electronic flash (can't remember the make or model) which WAY outclassed the camera.
Used that Halina until 2001 when I used a Video8 camcorder to take 10 second video clips of shots which I then digitized into my computer using a Tv card. No, really! Then in 2002 I bought a fuji finepix 2600 dige, then a Finepix f45fd in 2008 which lasted me until I bought my first DSLR (Canon 700D) in early 2015, I bought a load of lenses and got a bit more serious about photography. After trawling the web, I came across some beautiful images which were mind blowing to me and they were all shot on film.
I then went and bought a Canon Ae-1 Program, A-1 and AT-1. with 50mm f/1.8, 70-200 f/4 and 35-70mm lenses! Loved every minute. Also bought a couple of Canon EOS 650 bodies, so I could use my modern EF lenses. Shot with loads of different (but pretty mainstream) films B&W and colour but the processing costs were expensive so I started my own black and white developing. Tried DD-X & Rodinal but I prefer DD-X as it's sharp enough for me and much less grainy than Rodinal. My pal then gave me a Pentax ME with a box of lenses which I had lots of fun with, but I wanted a fully manual version of the ME so I bought a K1000 which I absolutely LOVE. I also bought three Kodak Brownie number 2 cameras at a junk sale for £12 and loved those, but I wanted a bit more quality so I bought a couple of Agfa Isolette IIs which were fabulous (after I repaired the bellows with some liquid electrical tape). I find myself shooting more and more film these days and less digital, so I have invested in a Mamiya RB67 Pro-S with 50mm, 90mm and 180mm lenses. Absolutely mindblowing. LOVE it.
I like to shoot mostly old cars, portraits and general still life, but anything really. I love the whole process, from the purchasing of film to the finished image. I have just started doing my own C-41 developing also. Especially now that I have found my local poundland has AGFA Vista 200 for £1 a roll.
My favourite films (so far) are: Neopan 100, FP4+, Tri-X, Delta 3200, Portra 160, Ektar 100 and of course the cheap and cheerful Agfa Vista 200.
Oh and I also have some plastic cameras. Couple of cheap point and shoots, couple of instamatics, Richoh 35EFL, etc. Don't use them much but they are fun when I do.
My most recent acquisitions are a Kiev 4a and Zorki-C. Lovely cameras, to look at and shoot with.
Thank you all for helping keep film alive and enriching people's lives in the process.
