Hi, I'm Marquis, I work as a 3D artist making video games. I have been shooting since 2012 when i first got a DSLR. After being recommended that I try film in 2013, I picked up a Canon AE-1 and have been shooting a mix of film and digital even since. I would like to get more serious about my film photography and found this lovely community.

I have shot mostly 35mm [Canon EOS 3, F1] But have been trying to shoot more and more my medium format Mamiya RZ67. After trying out the larger medium format, I loved the image quality it could produce, though the thought of using it was daunting. I still feel pretty new to the process of shooting medium format and the learning curve is larger than entering 35mm photography.

As I have been focusing mainly on longer exposure photography as of late, I am trying to push myself to be more comfortable using the RZ on more occasions. Before, I felt like I needed to take my DSLR with me and would use that for my more challenging shots because I felt like I couldn't risk wasting film and because I was afraid of failing to get the shots I wanted. So, to learn and improve as a photographer, I plan on shooting more film, especially on the Mamiya. I hope to learn lots from you guys and to hopefully help some others as well. Thanks for listening.

Welcome from an ex-Socal resident (just moved out of San Diego). It can be tough weaning yourself off of the instant gratification of seeing results on the LCD but oh what an enjoyable thing to get comfortable enough with the process to KNOW you got it without having to see proof.

Thanks everyone! I am getting more familiar with the camera I'm currently waiting on some rolls back that i shot two nights ago in San Francisco. I just got a shutter release after that experience. For long exposures it is a must.

Welcome to APUG! Learn how to process black and white film, you don't need a darkroom, and once you do it's addictive.

Amazing, a russian APUGger just joined the forum days ago and he used the same machines: Canon EOS 3 and RZ67.

Welcome to the forum (i use EOS 5, Canon F1 and New F1, and the RB67 pro-S, btw)

Good to know you take the RZ out to the field! It makes you become a stronger man.

Please read the user manual. You can download the manual from "Mike Butkus"'s website (butkus.org), and donate a contribution to him (he's the patron saint of camera manuals). And don't forget to move the appropiate switch before rotating the back! (Don't force anything...)

Also, i don't know if you're aware of this, but the RZ can also use the RB67 lenses as well.

Thanks, I currently have the 110mm lens and the 360mm that came when I brought it. I really would like something wider though, at least equal to 35mm focal length so probably the 65mm. As for development, I don't have the room or time unfortunately, I work way too much. Also, I love my EOS 3. It's my favorite camera to shoot with.
