Bill Schwab told me about this site and I am so happy that he did. I have recently begun to feel that I might be the last person alive still shooting film. It's good to know that I am not alone after all and I look forward to participating in the forums.

We're none of us actually alive here -- why do you think we stay in the dark?

Welcome to the dark side...

Cheers,

Believe it or not, I have some film testing to do. I finally ran out of my old version of Tmax100 and I started testing the new version last night. I haven't done full-blown Zone System testing in about ten years and this is a good opportunity to try some new developers too. I will check back in here when I'm done later and take a good look at all this site obviously has to offer. It's great to be here! And thanks for your kind words, Roger.

Welcome from Indiana. Bill organized a gathering at his place in northern Michigan in June of last year, and has plans for another this June. I had a great time. You might also want to check out the midwest large format asylum (http://www.deepthought.com/smf/index.php). Large format photographers from the region get together regularly for group outings and print sharing.

All the best,
Daniel

Daniel,

Thanks much. I am a member of rthe MWLFA but the last time I visited the site there had been almost no activity. I will have to check it out again. Does Bill live in Michigan? I just got back from a week on the Keweenaw Peninsula. My wife and I had it almost entirely to ourselves because they have almost no snow this year which is almost unheard of. I think we were literally the only vistors staying in Copper Harbor for a few days after New Years but we still loved it.

Hi,
Frank Pittel has set up a forum for the MWLFA that is far more active than the static website. Monthly group outings have started up again on a regular basis (I think there is one being organized for the month of January) and details are updated on the forum. Bill has built a home (from the ground up with his own hands!) up by Cross Village and it is a truly beautiful spot. Last year's gathering was spent around there with a visit to upper peninsula one afternoon. He's a terrific host and some of the best times were spent chatting around the campfire after a day of shooting. I'm really looking forward to this year's gathering.

Welcome aboard, from a misplaced Chicago Suburbanite, who somehow managed to find himself 7000 miles from home.

Greetings from northern AZ. Forgive my stupidity but where is the land of lincoln. My mom grew up in Petersburg IL, and we spent a lot of time at New Salem. They called that area, petersburg/springfield, the Land of Lincoln. Is that where you are?

Mark,
The Land of Lincoln is the state of IL as a whole.

Thanks everyone!

I am so glad I found this group. I was beginning to feel like I was alone on a remote island. It's great to see that I am not the last analog photographer left on the planet.
