Hi All
What a surprise to find folk who use film and some big film at that, in some cases.
I have a Mamiya 645J with PD Prism and 45, 55, 80, 150 lenses. A Pentax MZ7 with a Sigma TTL flash which seems to work nicely.
I am shooting a wedding tomorrow (done many, but long ago) and that is what has revived my interest.
I must say the first couple of rolls I tried in the 645 were less than exciting. To be honest I found getting the focus right a nightmare. I have aged somewhat since the camera was in regular use and even when the camera was in focus it was still blurred. If you don't get that, wait until you age a bit.
As I was in a hurry I bought an eyecup from Ebay, and had the local optometrist cut me the appropriate dioptre lens and WOW what a difference. Much easier to focus and the results are much more like I remember getting years ago. I also had my local technician service the 80 lens as the focus ring was a bit stiff.
If any 645 users want to go down that road the eyecup and lenses are still available from Mamiya at about $44 each.
Any good places to look out for s/h 645 gear. I would like perhaps a 35mm and a 110mm lens.
By the way Portra NC at $10 and Vivid at $15 per 120 roll, is that about right?

Thanks
Nigel

My Eyecup came from the US and the 45mm lens came from Hong Kong. These days you can get bits from anywhere.

Thanks for the welcome. I thought this was the Australian part of the group, but obviously it does not stop Americans from being warm enough to welcome a newcomer. Thank You

The film prices sound about right for Australia. Unfortunately Australian film prices seem to be rather insane. I know that several Australians pool together and make fairly regular purchases from US suppliers by mail. This can lower your cost per roll significantly.

Even for relatively modest orders you can make it cost-effective.
