I shoot digital (Nikon D50), and film--35mm (Nikkormat, Minolta and Pentax SP1000). I also have a Hawkeye Brownie (using 620 film that I'm figuring out how to use with 120 film) with flash and a Rollei 2.8e (which I am learning how to use).

Recently I graduated from Photography School.

I hope to glean much information from the much information available in the forum and add, as I can, to that information.

While I am mainly using my digital equipment I am concentrating on taking and developing and printing (as soon as the darkroom is set up ) pictures using my film camera.

Digitally I shoot mostly colour (street and art photographs). Analog...we'll see

I hope that we'll get to be friends.

Elke - really I'm from the Interlake, but I used to live in St Vital while going to U of M. I lived in Manitoba longer than anywhere else I've lived, but I haven't truly lived there since 1996! That being said, you can take the girl out of Manitoba, but I don't think you can take Manitoba out of the girl... ;-)

Minolta's just your gateway drug! Watch out, in a year or two you'll be hankering after an ultra-large format camera and doing wet plate collodians! APUG is dangerous!

Welcome from a Canadian/US dually. I live south of BC, and have obscure roots in Manitoba. My (very much late) father's family emigrated from Emerson which is almost not in Canada, but it seems to be a black and white thing. You are either in the US or Canada, but you could conceivably straddle the border. They went DEEP into the toe of Texas to grow grapefruits. From a country where most of the population is huddled up against the border to keep warm -- to grapefruits? It was great, because as a kid, I got a bushel basket of grapefruit and oranges every year at Christmas.

I'm between the US mainland and Victoria, actually northeast of Victoria.

I applied for a photo teaching job at U of M - but didn't get the call - long ago. I'd have had to retire seven years ago, had I got the job. Always wondered what it would have been like.

Welcome, and have some fun. As with any real community, this one has everything. It's virtual, but arguably "real life".
