We are headed to Germany for 3 weeks. I'm taking:

Leica M3 (1964) with 50mm f/2 Zeiss Sonnar & 90mm f/2.8 Tele-Elmarit

Zeiss Contax IIa (1953ish) with 25mm f/3.5 Voigtlander SC-Skopar & 50mm f/1.5 Sonnar

31 Rolls of B&W film -21 rolls Arista 400 (Kodak Tri-X) and 10 rolls HP-5.

Skylight & yellow filters for all – also red for the 25mm & 50mm f/2 Sonnar (43mm)

I lived in Bavaria in the 80's. Looking forward to seeing it again.

I'm curious (not being critical, just inquiring) why the split in cameras and the split in films? Are you going to shoot one film in the Leica and the other in the Contax? It also strikes me as an odd combination of lenses- why the two 50mm lenses?

Just be careful in regards to strapping your cameras on your shoulders. I had a mishap double fisting my gear. Dodged a serious bullet in repair bill.

Marvellous!

Take them both, 2 50's as well, back to their home country. Keep them in different bags in case they break into a scrap. Would be great to get pictures of both Jena and Wetzlar taken with those cameras.

I'd love to go to Germany again, beautiful country and photographic opportunities galore. I wish I had the cameras and knowledge/film back then as I do today. I spent 18 months in Hanau and Frankfurt areas.

The Contax will have the 25mm on it most of the time. The Leica will have the 50 or 90. The Contax 50 1.5 is for low light evening night use.

I will shoot all the Arista 400 (Tri-x) first then use the HP-5. The Arista film has been in my freezer longest so I want to use it up first.

I prefer a 24 or 25mm wide angle lens rather than a 28 or 35 when I am shooting in cities.

Got back safely and had a wonderful time!!! We went to Berlin, then Rotenburg ab Tauber, Bastone (Belgium), Triburg (Black Forest), Garmish, Bad Tolz, Ulm and flew back from Stuttgart. I exposed 18 rolls of B&W film in the Contax & Leica.

It was so good being back in Germany. We left in 1984 and it was out first trip back. Just fantastic!

I wish I could see it again and have the cameras I do now. Post some pics when you get the opportunity. I'd love to see what Deutschland looks like now.
