I'm trying to remember the name, I think Italian, of a still life photographer who in the 1990's made a name for himself photographing books. At least that was one of his subjects, there were many more. Fascinating creative still life work involving books, and pages, letters, etc. Who is he?

Please don't get me started on Morell! I think he is the among the most impressive & innovative B&W photographers working today.

And not only because of the Camera Obscura photos - his other work including pics of his kids, books, and other mundane objects are just superb. Check out his picture of an ordinary brown paper bag to see what I mean.

Abe is now making color camera obscura pictures too. One of the first was in the Philadelphia Museum of Art (I'm pretty sure it was commissioned by the Print Center).

I too think he is one of the most innovative photographers working today. He is also making photograms on 20x24 inch film. They are the most incredible, complex and beautiful photograms I've ever seen.

"Laura and Brady in the Shadow of Our House"... I love this photograph. The shadow of the house, the drawn windows in the sand, Laura sleeping or at least resting with her teddy bear. Brilliant. A very imaginative, exploring photographer. I'm not so sure about the camera obscura pictures but then again I haven't seen them in the flesh. At least, it's a great idea. The joy of seeing and a great sense of fun, as in the Alice in Wonderland pictures. Working with what photography can do. Yes yes, bravo.
