Header says it all. Anybody using HC110 to process TXP 320 sheets (or roll film for that matter) in Jobo tanks? Recipes? Experiences? Results? I expose TXP at 160 FWIW.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I was a long time user of Tri-X and HC110 when I got my Jobo. After a couple of months I had to give it up as uncontrollable. This after I got down to HC110-H (aka twice B).

For context, this was with a Jobo CPP-2, 3010 tank, HC110-H, 20C, lowest rpm I could set (about 25rpm), and 5 minutes with a presoak. My EI came out to be about 250, and my zone VIII values were around 1.5 - couldn't go lower without uneven development.

My conclusion was that HC110 is just too active and aggressive a developer for use in continuous agitation.

I switched to XTOL 1:3 which gives me a little better grain, a little more sharpness, considerably more control, and an EI of 400. All good things.

Perhaps you'll have better luck (or better skill maybe) than I did with this combo.

Confirmed. HC-110 is hot. Sure, it CAN be done. And I CAN dunk a basketball, but climbing the ladder and flinging my 55 year old self into space is more trouble than it's worth.

Compared to Rodinal, the transition to highlights happens earlier, and they go brighter. Like printing on a higher contrast paper. If that's what you want....

If you'd like a different look from Rodinal, how about Ilford DD-X ? A little more shadow detail, gentler highlights, and smooth grain. It'll really suit your images, and, of course, it's one-shot concentrate, and tuneable by dilution.
