Does anyone develop HP5+ in HC-110 dil H? If so, what are the visual differences (accuance, tonality, grain) between it and and in dil B? Examples?
Finally, time & temp
My usual combo is HP5+ in LC29 (1+19) but got a bulk roll of Tri-X and some HC-110 because at the time bulk HP5+ was unavailable locally. Now I'm out of Tri-X, just bought a new bulk roll of HP5+ (yay!) but still have half a bottle of HC-110
When you go to a more dilute developer you will see a bit more film speed and a bit more grain. This applies to any developer.
For dilution H (1+63) use twice the development time as for dilution B (1+31).
I usually dilute HC-110 1+49 and use 1.5 times the development time for B. Why?, because I use the same dilution for Rodinal and it keeps things simple.
That's what I call it: 1:50 just like rodinal and ditto what Gerald has said. It makes mixing it up for us metric guys so much easier, and I can use dilution "E" numbers (1+46 is close enough) as starting times.
