I have bought an argentum explorator I. (4x5) in june. It's beautiful, precise and cheap. I'm fully satisfied and happy with my camera. The only thing I don't understand, why can't google find their homepage?

What are their prices like? The price page on their website is "under construction" (little guy digging icon, god how I hate those!)

A 2kg 8x10 for €610 :surprised:

Thanks for posting this information. What is your impressions of the camera after a year (I see you bought yours last year in june)? If quality is good enough, prices look very competitive indeed...

Oh no - I'm drooling already! And my bank account is empty...

I don't dare think of it, either... a second 5x7... euaaargh. Must stop...

I don't care about the camera with movements: I want a Camera Obscura! I've always wanted a large format box camera...I could have SO much fun with that.

I was thinking more along the lines of a vertical-format only 8x10" xl...

I already have a second 5x7".

Wow . . . awesome to see another company involved in Large Format cameras. Very simple designs. Do you get the feeling it is a rugged camera? What other large format cameras have you owned/used that you could compare with this?

Thanks for posting!

Yes, I've got an excusor I. It just celebrated its 1st B-day. And I still love my camera. It has a very precise finish, beautiful appearance, light-weight and easy to use. These cameras are hand-crafted and individually numbered.
I have had only one problem with mine. Since it's the first with rack-driven focusing mechanism, earlier there was a spindle with a big thumbscrew) - which was sometimes hard to lock the focus as the humidity changed. But they fixed this and there has been no problems since then.
It works fine with the 65mm Super Angulon as well as the 300mm Symmar(although, to use this type of 300mm, the lens must be unscrewed into two pieces. The front half of the lens still on the board is put into the standard. Then the rear half is re-attached through the back of the camera with the film board removed).

I've held their 2kg 8x10 in my hands and yes, it's pretty amazing.

But ask the other owners too, about their cameras; some of them are
well-known Hungarian photographers, eg. Balazs Turay
(Dead Link Removed) If I know well, he was in China and the Sahara with his camera and all he had to do afterwards was to dust the camera off -- no problems.
