Hello,

In another thread, there was an intesting discussion about square and I found out that I am not the only one thinking in square... but have you tried it on large forma, 10x10''? I am really curious and would welcome some feedback as I am planning to get a modified 10x10'' LF camera.

Thanks,
Vincent

From MF experience I often think square and will occasionally visualize 4x5 as 4x4 and print square. I don't bother with masks, however. If I had an 8x10 I'd think 8x8 but never had a desire to go any bigger.

First no-one makes or rather cuts 10x10 film, and then there's no film holders, you could just get a 10x12 camera and mask the holders.

Vincent, on the Agentum site they suggest using "Fidelity, Losco etc." their words. Argentum's largest camera is a 10x8.

There's nothing to say they make film holders themselves. Sure one or two companies cut film to special sizes but with quite large minimum orders for each size.

Read again, a few lines further down from "Fidelity, Losco etc." they say: " We also produce double wood filmholder to admit a square sheet film,".....

Aerial Recon cameras are still using 9.5 X 9.5 with rollfilm. I have a motorized back for one of these contraptions that I'm never going to get around to playing with. Contact me off line if interested. It's heavy so doesn't really make any sense for field work or shipping very far. Not worth much.
