Those instructions are about as simple as it can get, moving or copying one folder to another location.

TWAIN is type of driver the scanner uses (this is how Epson Scan talks to software.) According to the article, Elements used to come with a plugin pre-installed that allows it to talk "TWAIN". Now, you have to install the plugin yourself. The page you linked to explains how to do it. Read it through carefully, and follow it step-by-step. Make sure to take note of the EDIT at the bottom...that's probably the better place to put the folder.

It seems silly to open one version of Elements to scan and another to edit. You might as well just launch Epson Scan directly at that point.

Why not ship it with Paint Shop Photo Pro? or maybe GIMP? Contrary to popular opinion, Photoshop ain't the only game in town. Maybe the scanner manufacturers kind of felt we would like to pick our own editing program. :whistling:

Excuse me for asking what will probably sound like a dumb question. But here goes. My actual scanning process is done with either Lasersoft Silverfast or Vuescan. I put the resulting Digital File into a Directory and folder in 'My Pictures'. I import the scanned image into Photoshop for post scan cleanup; spotting, etc, touchup and sharpening. Is this latter process what's being discussed here, or: are we talking about scanning the image using Elements

And, by the way I am using Photoshop Elements 6, which I am thinking of upgrading. But maybe it's time to think about Paintshop Pro.

Right, we're talking about scanning directly into Photoshop. Both Vuescan and Silverfast, as well as the Epson Scan driver (through TWAIN) have plugins for Photoshop that allow a scan to be imported directly from the scanner into photoshop, without having to save somewhere first.

If they're installed correctly, they should be under the File-->Import menu, but possibly only under the 32-bit version of Photoshop, if you're running a 64-bit OS.

Greg,

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I never really paid much attention to that operating mode when I originally installed my setup. Time to revisit same I guess.
