Anyone has a SWC Ground Glass? Is it

CAMERA Fresnel Etched --> | <-- Ground Glass Textured EYES

or
CAMERA Ground Glass Textured --> | <-- Fresnel Etched EYES

Thanks!

CAMERA <-- Ground Glass Textured | <-- Fresnel Etched
TOTALLY different from LF recommendations

If the recommendation is CAMERA <-- Ground Glass Textured | <-- Fresnel Etched <-- eye this is exactly what's right for most LF cameras. Ground side of GG faces the lens, ribbed side of the fresnel faces the GG, viewer looks at the fresnel's smooth side.

Thanks Dan - Googling shows some people say:
CAMERA Ground Glass Textured --> | <-- Fresnel Etched EYES
insisting that the "rough sides" of the GG and Fresnel lens must touch, otherwise, there are two surface to focus on.... but other people say the Hasselblad way.

Well, just took some test shots. Will see how it comes out.

The point of the exercise is that I have an original SWC ground glass, which is rather dim. I can't afford a new style SWC GG with Acute Matte (>$300!!!) so I have Steve Hopf grinds a borosilicate glass for me. It's brighter but still not very even, only brighter in the center, and I am seeing the Fresnel lens pattern :-/ So not entirely sure about the worthiness of this yet.

Richard, I shoot my 38/4.5 Biogon on a Century Graphic. You just have to accept that the corners will be dimmer than the center. The lens actually covers ~ 84 mm, illumination is completely gone at ~ 86 mm, so corner dimness is only a little worse on 2x3 than on the SWC's 6x6.

About the SWC, guess focus (don't guess, use a tape measure) should work well enough.

Regardless of "what some people say", the rough side of the GG must face the lens. Otherwise it won't be in register with the film plane.
