A new acquaintance of mine who lives in Hawaii needs a Hasselblad repair. The mirror is apparently jammed on her 500 series body. Is there a local place that she can go to or perhaps someone in California to send it to that someone has had experience with?

There are really only two places in Hawaii that do real camera repair.

Photo Tech Camera Service Center 510 Piikoi Street Honolulu, Hawaii, 96814 808-596-8209.

Randy's Camera Repair 139 Lahainaluna Road Lahaina Hawaii 96761 808-661-8054

I don't know if either will work on a Hasselblad, but all it takes is a phone call. A jammed mirror is not brain surgery. Any competent Hasselblad repair person can get it running. Your friend posted to the group and got a lot of Stateside suggestions, many for David Odess. I don't think shipping it clear across to the East Coast for a mirror jam makes sense, but shipping it to the dozens of good techs in LA would make sense, if the HI techs listed above cannot do it.

I read about this person's problem on another forum.

Samys Camera on Fairfax in Los Angeles has a Hasselblad trained technician, Mike, who is quite good.

There's a shop in Kona that has Hassie experience, forget the name. Most all repairs, if I cannnot do myself, get sent off to be done properly.

Wayne, thanks for starting the thread for me!

I will give Photo Tech and Randy's Camera Repair a call tomorrow. I'm not sure if either of them are still around! If all fails, I will definitely look into sending it to Cali or may be even to David Odess!

Will keep posted.
