Hasselblad rubber focus ring replacement??

I have a Hasselblad 80mm lens that is missing the rubber material on the focus ring - I think it was removed by the previous owner to use a quick focus handle. Anyway, any ideas on where to get a replacement or where to get a diamond pattern rubber sheet material to cut a strip? I have looked at McMaster-Carr but I don't think they have rubber sheets with a raised enough pattern from my search.

I pulled the rubber ring off my 120mm because it was loose and flopping around. Doesn't help you, sorry, but is another reason it might be missing.

I could use one for my CF 80mm lens, but I was told that the replacements are expensive.

Vacuum cleaner belts are an alternative. Sort of. I doubt that you're going to find a direct replacement
but finding the right width should be no problem. Someone who services vacs and appliances
would be a good bet.
Alternatively measure the width & diameter and hop online.

You don't need a strongly raised pattern. You can achieve a lot of grip with a fine texture if used on the right material. Of course fine patterns will smudge faster and need more care if you want them to look good.
I once found a huge role of double-sided fine linen-patterned rubber foil sold per length, marketed for pond isolating as alternative for PVC foils.

2 replacement options that I've used:

Leather - a nice patent scrap from a letter shop. Cutting it just right is tricky, but not bad. Looks elegant, is functional.

Those silicone wrist bands that were popular in the past, and still easy to get. Soft and grippy, fits the hasselblad lenses (can even replace a cracked plastic ring under the rubber), very functional, and you can even add a splash of colour if that turns your crank.

neoprene self stick light seals material. It comes in different thickness n is a nice looking band too.

also the self stick leatherette used to cover cameras if you want a nice textured look.

Microtools carries both.

There are various rubber mats sold for lining toolbox drawers, these tend to be about 1/8 inch/ 4mm or so thick. Sears has the best variety, the last time I looked. There is also thin foam with a adhesive layer available at art supply shops like Michael's available from about 1/16 inch thick on up.
You could also try McMaster.com they have a large variety of rubber sheeting in many thicknesses, also machine belts.
Another possibility might be the "non-skid strip" used on Festool guide rails, these are about 3/4 inch wide, around 1/16 inch thick, and very grippy.

Is it really worth the trouble? Get a new 2nd -hand lens.

If you just want something to aid in focusing, a wide rubber band with one of these:

over top of it might do the trick. I have them installed on all my Hassy lenses and I'm finding them quite handy.

Bob, if you're not fussy about appearance this will be functional; I've used it to replace the leg lock grips on my early model GITZOs that dried up and nearly disintegrated and the repair is still going strong. If 3/4" width is too narrow, this is 2" wide and can serve multiple uses.

Anyway, I had not considered these tapes as I thought them too rough for fingers. Never saw them applied for "hand-use".

I have a grip gone from a 40mm FLE CF and a broken plastic ring on the rear of a 100mm Planar, both repaired now with the silicone as advised.
Luckily, not being flamboyant, one of my sons had a black one and a dark blue in their collection, had, note

Again, thanks to all for the suggestions. I decided to go with a call to Sinar/Hasselblad and the part is available but not listed on their website. A little steep price wise at $35, but I figured that it would be worth while to keep the lens in factory material, for other than the missing grip it is in like new condition. Also, the part is a standard set which includes a wider band used on longer lenses, so I have material to replace other grips if necessary.

Thank you for the information that the grip material is available. It does seem like a better solution. The value difference for the lens with and without the grip is probably well more than $35.00.

Would you happen to know the part number for the ring? I'm also looking for a replacement and when I called Hasselblad today, they said the part number is needed in order to see if they have any in stock.

I assume you're referring to Hasselblad-Bron in NJ? The item numer is either H-S10995 0032200 or 802-036-00 (Profile Rubber Ring). Just a little over a year ago it cost $15 for the focusing ring an then another $10 for shipping. It sounds like the above poster purchased a set for a little more but also got a larger focusing ring as well--I'm not sure what the part number for that was.

I contacted Hasselblad Bron for the CF 80mm focusing ring and they answered very promptly and gave me that part number as 802-044-00 which is according to them a new number. However they no longer carry that part. The recommended that I try eBay. I ordered on eBay. It has two parts a smooth inner ring and an outer ring with raised pyramids for gripping. Some of the listings have only the inner ring, so look at the photographs and order carefully.

Two rings?
I assume the inner ring acts as shim for a too large outer ring. At least that is the best I can make out of that.

They are a pair. The inner ring attaches to the lens collar and provides a groove for the out ring to fit into. Both have ridges so that the outer ring will stay in place and not slide around the lens. They must have a reason to have two rings instead of one.

Thank you for that I will check e-bay I have two lenses requiring the fix, it both cases the plastic collar is the part that has broken, temporary fix with one of the silicone wrist bands I think mentioned earlier is working well.
