I recently acquired a PM5 prism viewfinder for my 500C/M and have been trying to determine what particular version of corrective diopter (i.e. -1, +3, etc) I should purchase that would allow me to use the PM5 without wearing my glasses. I've read the info provided in Richard Nordin's "Hasselblad Compendium", but it really doesn't guide me in choosing the appropriate diopter for my needs.

Any comments or suggestions would be sincerely appreciated.

Thank you;

Hi Jeff,

Many years ago when I needed to determine the same thing I took the camera to my local optician and borrowed a bunch of different power diopter " monocules" (for lack of a better word). I mounted the camera on a tripod, removed the supplied eyepiece, then held each monocule up to the prism until I found the one that enabled me to focus best. Whatever power that was is the diopter adjustment lens I bought. IMO actually seeing it is the best way.

Good luck!
