Hi All.

I have a Hasselblad CB lens that has a problem, the 1 second shutter speed isn't working properly, it seems to fire at 1/60th speed rather than 1s. Curious enough that all the other speeds from 1/500s to 1/2s are firing correctly(including bulb mode). Is it just needed a CLA on the shutters or i can ignore it(1s shutter speed rarely used anyway) without worrying that the lenses will broken in the future. The problem seems different with the other 1s shutter speed problem that other people posted here too and the other forum(they mostly have sticky shutter on 1second speed).

Any advises would be great.

most people will probably suggest a CLA, but I would leave it as is and wait until normal 'exercising will fix it.

Thinking about this logically... you know that your shutter is malfunctioning. That fact implies that you should get it repaired (probably not just CLA'd). If you contninue using it you might get unreliable performance and you won't know when/if/how-much worse the situation will become. if you can live with uncertainty then keep using it. Otherwise...

I don't know the lens and shutter, but I'll throw out something- are you sure that it is set at 1 second? Not a little bit before or after? often if a shutter dial is nudged a bit past 1 second towards B, there will be a section of fast firing. Just a long shot and again I am not familiar that that particular shutter.

Use it at the working speeds. Shutters generally have a slow-speed escapement that controls the - obviously - slower speeds. That might be gummed up. If the other speeds are working, worry about fixing the lens when they are not. I'd suggest you continue to pay attention to it, though. Other speeds may stop working without warning. The issue with a malfunctioning lens is, quite simply, it's not reliable.

tried using normally for a week but nothing has changed, I've sent it to technician to check.

yes, using the lens a bit uncomfortable because the uncertainty.. already sent to the technician to check the shutter.

I would and have chosen to have a CLA much sooner. Besides it could correct problems that you do not know that you have with the camera and lens.

Also my Hasselblad repairman recommends that every three months one should fire each lens and each body, should you own more than one Hasselblad, be fired at the smallest diameter f/stop at 1 second for 10 to 15 times. Doing so, moves the lubrication around and helps avoid problems. Since I was told to do that, I have had few lens and shutter problems.
