This is old news, of course, but for those of us who grew up paying attention to the space race... aquick retrospective.

So cool. I remember this well. I was 11 years old when Apollo 11 happened. The SpaceX stuff, rockets flying back to the cape. That's so amazing and wonderful.

But we should not overlook that many, most diverse handheld cameras were in space (though not on the moon).

But Hasselblad got/made best advertizing out of it.

Yes, that’s very true... Hasselblad was not the only camera used in he space program. The others were very capable too.

I handled one of the first cameras to go into orbit with John Glenn. The builder at that time, working for NASA, was Roland "Red" Williams. Very nice guy. His workshop was in Hangar "S" just around the corner from the photo office and near the test vacuum chambers.

That's true. It's funny: the list of so many companies whose photo equipment has been in space reminds me of hotels who claim "George Washington slept here".

The others mostly did not advertize the fact that their cameras were in space. And if they did, then to the effect that people only think of Hasselblad in this respect ...

There were many camera models and makes in space.

This includes quite a few motion picture cameras.

Good Hassy operations manual, not just for the ELM but also C and CF lenses as well as the 90 degree viewfinder. really all Hassy V models.
