Hasselblad Help..A12 Back Winding Issue

Let me first say, I’ve cla’d, rebuilt, whatever you’d like to call it more than a handful of hassy backs over the years, but this one is giving me grief in a way I’ve never run into before. Perhaps somebody on here can help..?

It’s a 1989 back, in pretty nice condition, used sparingly. Clean, not abused...also seemed to have never been apart. I did a light seal, and pulled the side cover just to make sure everything was working smoothly. Everything seems great, but it’s winding wonky.

ok, 1st and 2nd frames are great, but by the time you get to the 3rd, it stoping well past the number 3 in the window. 4th frame you’re already between 4and 5, and so on. Eventually it passes numbers you haven’t even wound to yet, and you only get 10 frames on a roll.
Now, I a test roll through I have on the bench, and same thing. Film in or not, same thing.

I’ve gone through all the normal culprits on the a12 back, all gears, windgear/spring, latches, springs, everything is working smoothly. I’ve also adjusted the number dial in both directions with absolutely no change. Even changed the dogleg out for a new one...

Help!!! Does anyone out there have a solution to this?? Am I missing something completely obvious (very possible)

Look at the part that uses the diameter of the film left to determine the frame number. The frame number and frame spacing are dependent on that. I cannot help you more than that.

I’m very confused by this.....maybe we’re talking about different things. The piece that measures the film roll thickness is in no way connected to the number wheel. They operate completely independently of each other-
