Two questions, really...

shooting a new to me swc. Very good condition, clean, serviced last about 10 years ago. Came from a local pro photog/studio, who took very good care of his gear. I’m on roll number three, and the frame spacing just went wonky on me. My two questions are:

1. Does this have to do with the mechanism in the body, or the back? (My inclination says the back)

2. Secondly, this happened on a roll of 1980s expired tri-x, which is noticeably thinner than new film. I usually shoot fresh, new tri-x, but happened across a few 5 packs of expired stuff for cheap. Could the film thickness (or thinness) have something to do with it?? A couple of the images are touching..not quite overlapped, but almost-

thanks my photrio peeps

Close or touching negatives is a sign that the film back needs a CLA. I have not found a correlation with film age. I just take my backs in and have them adjusted; I do not know how to adjust a film back.

Film thickness will affect image spacing on mechanical distance winding advances but may not affect clutch advance systems. One way to check film thickness issues is to add 1 to 2 layers of backing paper to the take up spool core before loading the film. It will not compensate for a dirty/slipping wind mechanism of any type.

Thanks Sirius...that was my guess-
