Hasselblad Focusing Screens: Is Anyone Left?

Just returned to my bookmark for Beattie focusing screens and found they have gone out of business. http://www.camerascreens.com/notfound.php

Satin Snow Glass is also gone.

There was another manufacturer that I can't remember.

I'm looking for a split screen for focusing accuracy.

Is there anyone left?

Is there anyone who's tried focusing screens bought on eBay?

I use the Accumat screens and never saw a need to try any others.

Is Maxwell still supplying screens for Hasselblad V? I never liked Beattie screens anyways.

You can still find split image acute-matte screens on eBay, but you may have to be patient to get one at a reasonable price. There are a couple of reliable sellers out there.

I had a Beattie Intenscreen in a Hasselblad and loved it. Plenty of people on here have said that the Acute-mattes are as good or better.

You may not be able to focus for a while, but when your eyes dry, you'll love the Maxwell.

So the Acute Matte screen is the screen that was produced officially by Hasselblad for its bodies, but those screens are no longer in production for early bodies like my 500cm.

Looks like Maxwell screens are a one-man-band. They've got a Facebook page and no website. Doesn't mean that they're bad of course. I emailed bill and we'll see what happens.

Your 500cm is able to mount any focusing screen of the more recent models. The best ones are the original Hasselblad Acute Matte "D" with the split screen in the center surrounded by a micro-prism circle, but they are not cheap. Be aware of the fakes or the old non "D" ones, the real "D" screens are marked with two small half-circle cuttings on the metal frame near one of the corners. I bought one of this for my 500cm and found one already mounted on my 503cw. They are great!

One of my bodies has the Maxwell, the other has a first generation acute Matte (before the 'D'). It has no focus aid at all - just a matte screen. Irondically, it works fine - just not as much fun & probably tougher to use in low light. I've seen the Acute Matte 'D' and they are nice. I don't recall it being as bright as a Maxwell - which makes the Maxwell "slightly" less painful. The 'D's I saw used were so expensive, I'd say the Maxwell is a better performer and a better value for the $$$.
