Hasselblad focusing ring and charger

Yesterday I posted a question about my magazine and now I am going to ask more. I hope not to bother too much.
Here are my "troubles": I just purchased a used EL/M system. I think it was manufactured around 1979.
It looks clean and in very very good cosmetic conditions.
But...
The lens 80mm f/2.8 Planar T* has a play in the focusing ring.
As I turn it there is some movement (that still slightly effects the focusing) and then begins to engage.
Does it can be repaired? It is a matter of lubrication? Does not look as this lens was heavy used and therefore with worn out threads.

I am charging the batteries (2 batteries), and they say 28 hours in the case they are dead.
They were, so I am waiting beside my camera to finish.
Any tricks or tips about recharging?

Isn't that ring glued to the metal?
Maybe it's only a bit lose, therefore, a little glue would solve the problem?

As for the batteries, sorry, I've never had an EL/M, I can't help.

If you charge only one battery at a time it will recharge in 14hrs. if completely discharged, say evening and overnight, ready for use the next day. My own 80mm Planar has about a mm. of play before more resistance is felt but it in no way impairs the performance.

You might look at the 9 volt battery replacement. Mine runs great on one 9 volt.

At least it would be a good backup for your rechargables.

And how many films could I shoot with a charge? (or a battery set?)
And does the camera, when nearly to be out of power, send you some signals of malfunctions?

You will get around 1000 exposures and transport cycles from one fully charged battery in good condition. As far as I know there is no warning and it is possible for the camera to stop mid cycle. Depending on your usage, I would re-charge every week/month regardless.

The play in the focusing ring is old lube. live with it for a while & if it begins to bother you have it relubed.
This is common to most mfrs lenses.

Happy to hear about the thousands of exposures.
Not so much about the lube, I have a very old Hassy from the 60s with a very old and awful looking lens (dents and so on, but the glass is scratch free) and it runs perfectly and smoothly.
The problem with that old one was that the body couldn't drive the film correctly. I had to check through the peep hole of my magazine if the film count was correct.

My post above was serious, I have a friend who had the same issue on his CF 80mm, send it to service. He thought it was a lubricant issue, until he got a phone call the next day from the service guy, asking, if he wanted a complete CLA or just to glue the out of place plastic focus ring?

I'm not saying this is the problem with your Planar optic, but just check it before you send it to service.

As far as I can see it it doesn't seem to be a glue problem, but I don't know how to check it properly.
Any suggestions?

Not thousands, carsten, around about ONE thousand, and that will depend on how good condition the battery is in. The original Ni-cad's are not as reliable as the modern NMh versions. The best way to check is to take pictures - lots of pictures. You may find that what you think is a problem in fact is not. Good shooting.

For a very low cost, about $3.00, you can make a 9V adapter that you can keep with you, just take a 9V batery clip and solder 2 pieces of scrap copper to it, glue one to the bottom of the battery and one on the clip, insert properly, with an empty 35mm film can (bottom cut off) to insulate the case and you're good to go. If you insist on spending money, there's quite a few on ebay for $20 or so, same idea, different implementation.

I started using mine and just said the heck with it, the 9V battery lasts nearly forever (I dont' do a lot of heavy shooting) and my NiMh batteries sit on the shelf.
