Hello,
I am having problems with my cw winder. It works properly off the 503cxi but not mounted to the body. It just keeps trying to advance after the shutter, lens and back are already wound. It will not active the release when mounted on camera. Camera operates smooth and correctly with the hand winder. I have to pull the batteries to get cw winder to stop trying to advance. It has done this in the past and somehow I fixed it but I can’t remember how
I was testing with a empty a12 back. Darkslid out. Also tried a full a12 back. I tried with lens on and lens off. I tried holding release down for ten sec in S mode with the batteries out, like the manual recommends…. Stumped. Anyone have any advice? Thanks

In my limited experience with the CW winder I once had this erratic behaviour that more or less resembles yours and I discovered that the batteries were causing it. I was using rechargable 1.2V ones. Switching to fresh 1.5V alkaline batteries fixed it for me. Nowadays I only use non-rechargable batteries or AA-sized Li-ion ones that have a proper 1.5V output.

Thanks for the reply. I put in 6 new batteries when the problems arose. Ill meter them tomorrow to verify it isn’t a issue with proper voltage.
