I just bought above lens on eBay, and it looks like advertised. It is in perfect cosmetic shape, hardly any wear and the shutter is perfect too. The only thing that bothers me is the fact that, when I hold it tightly in my hand, and shake it lightly, I can feel and hear the front lens elements move.

I get the same from many of my Nikon lenses (zooms more than fixed-focal length), but not from any of my other Hasselblad lenses.

Do you have such a lens, and do you get the same thing?

I just rented one for a Red Sox game and the thing felt solid enough that I could have probably used it as a baseball bat. Never noticed any movement or instability.

You might ask David Odess to take a look.

I've occasionally noticed a loose front element on my 135/3.5 Planar for 4x5". It's just a matter of tightening the front ring, and it's fine, though I can't imagine it's good for the collimation of the lens.

Front ring has loosened. Use a rubber grippy thing(Stopper) & tighten it.
It'll take you longer to find the stopper than to cure the problem.

The rubber grippy things are available from Micro Tools Dead Link Removed. They ship worldwide.

Could anyone point the way to an instruction manual that explains how to use the Hasselblad Sonnar 250mm lens. I've been searching on the net and it has been a big waste of time coming up with nothing but useless reviews, problems and of course the pesky adds. Searching only in the edu and org domains didn't help either

What I recon you need is a manual on how to use the lens on a H'blad 500 series camera. That is described in the camera manual for either the 500C or the 500C/M. (That depends on if you have a C-type lens or a CF lens.) Anyhow, the works can be found at: http://www.hasselbladhistorical.eu/.

Lycka till

I just pointed out that the site is 'findable' in the .org domain too.

So please, plug ahead!

By the way, and not unimportant: as the "by"-lines show, it is not 'my' site.
Hasselblad Historical is a concerted effort of a group of people. Of that group, i am the one who does the 'putting up on the web' and acts as contact/postmaster.
