I bought a Hasselblad 500C/M body for very cheap. I knew it was in bad shape, but at $30, I just had to buy it!

I took it for service and the spring (30384) is broken. It's the spring that drives the auxiliary shutter. The repairman doesn't have the part and can't find it. It seems even Hasselblad doesn't sell that part anymore!

Does anyone happen to have one and would be willing to sell?

Thanks, but he was the first person I thought. He doesn't sell parts.

One thing I have to say: sending my camera to another country for repair isn't possible. The amount of paperwork I would need to avoid it being taxed on return is ridiculous!

Cheers,
Flavio

He sells parts as well, you can email him in English an he is in the EU, so not really another country.

Thank you very much, Frank! I've just e-mailed him.

But the EU is to the other side of this big pond called the Atlantic Ocean. I am something like 6,093 miles (9,805 km) southwest of you.

I've been to Amsterdam way back in 1996. I hope it's still as nice as it was!

There should be a way to avoid heavy taxes by showing the receipt for purchasing the camera before you sent it for repairs. Check with the postal authorities in Brazil.

It would be an entertaining story (for you), but I'm not telling it, unless we're sharing a good bottle (or more) of your favorite alcoholic beverage... which would imply a personal visit. In that case, I could just take them to David Odess personally. (Edit: NOPE! You're in opposite coasts!)

Incredibly, it's *a lot* easier for a Brazilian to exit and re-enter Brazil with a full photo gear than sending one body abroad for repairs.

I could take you to Sammys Camera and you could have the repair done there. Then there are many great restaurants in Los Angeles, include Brazilian.

I will never forget the Chardonnay I drank in a restaurant in Long Beach.

Yea, I have to go to California again soon. Summer's only some months away. Now I only need the money! :D
