If they used the bizarre one, and they wanted something in portrait orientation, the camera would be upright, and therefore usable with the WLF.

If they used the 6x6 back, they could do it exactly the same way with the same length of film, and get the same result.

The fact is, there is no practical use for this 12V back that is not met by the regular 6x6 back.
