So I just bought a second A12N back for my 501CM, and had a few questions about the so-called "Ilford" start point on the film inserts. My original back was made in 2000, and this new one in 2003. Only the latter back has the Ilford oblong start point marked on it in red, so it confused me at first. Reading the manual it says this is where to line up the start arrow only with Ilford films specifically. The thing is, I've been using the normal triangle as a starting point with Ilford films on the original back for ages without any issue.

What's the deal here then? Did Ilford used to use different spools to everyone else or something? If so, I find it odd that the marking would be on the newer back and not the older one. I assume it is safe to continue loading Ilford films using the normal triangle mark on the new back? Thanks.
