Not the Same...
Let's get this right; the standard 67mm thread used in modern filter production does not match the thread used on the older Distagon 50mm C lens. This can cause major headaches when it comes time to find suitable filters for your subject on the open market. The 63mm drop-in (vs. threaded) filters designed for this are called Series VIII or Series 8. Thay are relatively rare in the marketplace and, more often than not, used and showing signs of wear.
Many users of this lens, myself included, use the Cokin P-Series filter holder. The thread is still wrong but seats far enough without damaging the threads to be effective. if the 67mm adapter ring is left on the thread, the lens barrel threads are not constantly being intruded upon by various filters that it was not designed to accept eliminating some of the possiblities of cross-threading the barrel of an expensive lens. There are hundreds of drop-in filters for this holder, a compendium shade (Lee makes the PH84 to fit on the Cokin-P holder and is square format) and the P-Series holder even acts as a lens shade on its own. The P-Series holder does not cross into the image plane so the Wide-Angle version is not necessary. A very good solution for accessorizing an older lens.
