You could try searching for self-timer.



That looks pretty close to the one my dad bought in Japan in 1950. I carry it in case I need to use it on my view camera lenses or Pentax 6x7 or 501cm.

That also look exactly like my first Canon RF camera and lens.

Hasselblad didn't make them. They were a standard accessory in the 50s & 60s before most/all cameras had built in self-timers. In a search for accessory self timer GOOGLE found this....

I have only had the 501cm a week. It takes a standard cable release. The same cable release that fits my Fujinon-W lenses in Copal shutters and my Pentax 6x7. I would say that makes the threads universal. In fact, the cable release is decades older than the camera. Nothing special about it. Just for grins I will try the self timer tonight. Stay tuned.

Now I understand your question. I don't think there is any such thing as Compur threads.

Metal-bodied clockwork powered timer which fits a standard Compur-threaded release socket. Maximum delay about 15 seconds.

Look for "Autoknips" on the well-known auction site. Made in Germany, don't know if they're still being made.

I don't know. I haven't tried any of these myself (that is: not on a Hasselblad, and it has been ages since i last had and used one).

There are three things to watch out for.

The first is how you will attach the thing to the camera.
They are all too big to fit directly, so you need a connector that creates space between the camera and lens and the self timer. An L-connector would probably do.

The second is that the release must be pressed and kept pressed until the lens shutter has finished it's cycle. Not a big problem with speeds of 1/30 or faster. But the self timer must keep its plunger 'activated' for at least 1 full second to be of use with the longer speeds.

The third is the length of the pin. Too long or too short, and it will not work. Some self timers may have an adhustable pin length, others may not.
But with the necessary intermediate connector, perhaps not a problem.

Criminy! Self timer collectors. Who would have thought?
Can't see much detail against the background though.
The threads on the cable release socket are a standard tapered thread. If the self timer is complete it should fit. The exceptions are for the Leica ltm, Nikon F and Yashica TLR which use a female thread on the cable release.
If you have a cable release and pic of the item you want to buy just compare them. There's no mistaking the tip.

I've seen mechanical self timers that have adjustments for the plunger depth. You can probably work-around the issue of how long it keeps the release down by pre-releasing the camera body.
It would be way more expensive than an add-on timer, but the "C" lenses have self timers FWIW.
A possible alternative would be an air bulb release, these usually have a hose that is 25 or so feet long. You just need a way to hide it if you're looking to be in the picture.

Prereleasing will not help. As soon as the plunger retracts again, the rear shutter will slam shut, even if the shutter in the lens has not finished doing what it is supposed to do.
So the thing needs to work long enough, or else you can only use if for speeds of about 1/15 - 1/30 and shorter.

I have a self timer as pictured by Venchka. I purchased it in a camera store several years ago. It does work with my Hasselblad when connected to the shutter release button as pictured by Rinthe ( the button on the lower right of the camera, not of the picture). You might check camera stores that have been around for a long time and have one in a drawer gathering dust.

I just did a quick search on B&H photo used camera gear and they had one. A Hama @ $39.95. Searching may turn one up at a lower price?
