Hasselblad 501C & 80mm f2.8 C lens

I have owned 500C and 500 CM in the past. Now i want another. How does the 501C with 80mm f2.8 C lens compare to the 500s? Thanks

The camera features may be slightly different but the cameras are the same.

The 501C body is basically a 500CM with some cosmetic changes to make them less expensive to make:
- different shutter release button
- Acute Matte D screen
- no 'body ready' indicator
- non-detachable crank
- no GMS

The 80mm CB (marked 80C) is optically a different lens, that was slightly less expensive to make. In practice, the images are indecipherable from the C-CF-CFi versions, but the theoretical MTF curves are slightly better for the latter, hence the preference for them.

The Acute Matte D is a plus, if it is still installed. It was a very nice kit to use, and was a way to introduce people to Hasselblad with a new, instead of a used, product.

Thank you for the recommendations. You used to dislike Distagon 30mm ("do not like photographs which include my shoes"). What has changed in favor of 30mm Fisheye?
I have my eye on Distagon 40mm as the widest lens for V mount. Any opinion?

I do not dislike the Fisheye, I just do not like taking photographs of my shoe tops, so I always check so I avoid that. I got the 30mm C and the 500mm C because the prices were just too good to pass up. I get a lot of enjoyment with the Fisheye.

As others have said, the differences are negligible. The 501C is not that different from the 500CM. The real difference comes with the 501CM that has the gliding mirror mechanism. The advantage of the 501C is that it is slightly newer than the 500CM and a lot less expensive than the 501CM. Also, this is a camera mainly bought by amateurs and pristine examples are easy to get.

My 503 CX does not have the Gliding Mirror System and while I can see a line in the viewfinder with the 250mm, 500mm and 500mm with the 2XE, I never even notice the line. The line does not show up on the negative nor on the slide. I never considered the GLS useful.

I think it mostly matters when you work with extension tubes. Since I do a lot of close-ups, this was important for me.

Did they all come default with acute matte D? Also is there a catalogue or database for parts?
