I have an opportunity to own an Exc+ Black 500 C/M (made in 1984) with WLF, and matching black A12 back for $435 plus shipping. This appears to be a good deal comparing to KEH prices. Does anyone else think this is a good or abad deal? I figured that I could get a standard lens for about 3 to 4 hundred on Fleabay. Just asking for advice prior to putting down the dough.

For me this sounds like a sweet deal, if it's a 501 as the header says. Less sweet, but still quite fair if it's a 500, as the body of the post indicates.

Go for it, I say.

Do not buy it!

Have them ship it directly to me!

All seriousness aside, if you buy it it will be a reflection of your good taste and the ability to stop a good deal.

I believe a 1984 manufacture would make it a 500C/M. The 501's didn't appear until the mid '90s.

Agred, typo on my behalf, It's a 500 C/M circa 1984, WLF, and matching A12 back. Not many changes happened between 1984 and the later 501 C and 501 CM. The 1984+ models can all take user interchangable screens. I made the purchase as I cannot allow a deal to slip away. I went to compare it with some other similar listed items at a local photgraphic store, and I got the better deal.

You got a great deal. Now just shop around for a lens. I got a 501c about 10 years ago. All the 500 series are fantastic cameras. With the Idgital users dumping film cameras, Hasselblad are a buyer's market.

Congratulations!

Sounds like a great deal

I got mine last year - never looked back. Can honestly say I have never enjoyed picking up a camera so much in my life...

After thirteen months of buying various lenses, different finders, numerous backs - my bag is so @£&*@*! heavy I can barely lift it!

Happy as Larry though, would not consider changing it - period. As a student I dreamed of owning one but couldn't afford it.

It was worth the wait...

Think of it as your new fitness program.

fitness programme

I do puff a bit on the steeper hills but now my knuckles drag on the ground and the fact that my back seems to be getting broader - I guess the programme is working fine. It's just that I find I need extra beer when I get back...

That's just to replace the lost fluid of course!
