The BH-55 has a tensioning knob that will provide needed grip on the ball to eliminate "flopping cameras." For fact, I can mount my 8x10 Deardorff on it and tension it down such that it's difficult to move the camera; and that's before I tighten down the main knob! That said, I much prefer the Gitzo 1570M for heavier, large cameras like my Deardorff.

But indeed I take your point - the chances of me giving LF a try someday are roughly 100%!

Yeh, yeh, for decades I said that and then I joined APUG and look at me now.

My recent dive into the Arca quick release system was partially prompted by getting an Arca P0 head. I was looking for light and compact without giving up weight payload capacity. It holds my 553 ELX fine, as well as my 5x7 field camera. I bought the version without a QR clamp, so I could use it on its own if I wanted, then added an Arca-Swiss knob-type QR clamp.
One thing to note, the newest Arca-Swiss clamps are designed to take both their new style plates as well as the wider “universal” Arca-type plates. However, there is no “safety catch” for universal plates, so some caution is needed. If that’s important, I’d consider pairing an RRS clamp with it. I tried out an FLM clamp, which is nicely made and works well, but it slightly interferes with the P0 head’s panning lock.
The head is awesome though.
