Hasselblad 500CM Shutter wont fire , please help.

@nestons I have used Hasselblad USA and David Odess (RIP). The Hasselblad USA office has recently relocated from NJ to California, and when I reached out to them they assured me that they still service V-system bodies and lenses.

There's also Steve's and many people are happy with them, but I have never used them. This webpage is worth bookmarking.

I just had my 500c/m and 150mm C lens repaired by Jim Kilroy at Barn Owl Camera. Fast turnaround, very reasonably priced. Apparently studied with David Odess, and I read somewhere he got Mr. Odess’ parts inventory. He told me he works only on Hasselblad and Rolleiflex. I am sending him an Automat next week.

I've had Hasselblad work done by Jim Kilroy also and recommend him with confidence.

Another huge shout out for Jim Kilroy.

I bought my Blad from him. Drove up there, since I'd never used one, and he showed me how. As I was buying it, he just didn't like some of the "action" of the camera, so he took it apart and worked on it for a couple of hrs in front of me (a great lesson!) and only gave it back to me when he was completely happy.

I've since sent him my Rollei, which he did great work on.

He's a terrific, terrific guy, and one of the reasons I love my Blad is that I know he'll be there to fix it.

Yes, he did train with David Odess and yes he has a complete set (multiple sets) of Blad tools.

Might have to give Jim Kilroy a try, Barn Owl Camera for a hung upper Barn Door makes sense to me.

Hi folks,

Hope everyone is having a great week.
I forgot to get in touch but I have an update from the camera repair.
So I ended up giving the camera to VANCAM based in Vancouver, Canada and they managed to fix it within 5 days.!
They're good and very professional.
So they ended up checking and fixing it. Apparently, the small piece of metal that sticks out from the body once you press the shutter wasn't extending to what it was supposed to be, hence no contact with the body and the shutter used to not get pressed as it wasn't making the contact at the point and mentioned the shutter curtain had a problem which is fixed.
I have shot about 11 frames on my second film yet. (the first film was ruined as it wasn't working when I had it in the back before the repair.
As I develop the film in a week or two, I will know if it all good and also know whether I made the right exposures each time I shot.

I'm just glad to hear that Vancam is still working on Hasselblad 500 bodies and lenses.

Got my 501CM back from Jim at Barn Owl Cameras with a fairly quick turn around, good price too. It's as smooth as butter. He is my new go to now...
