Hi All,
I just got what I hope to be a nice Hasselblad 500c. It's rather weathered but for the price at USD620 it looks pretty good

Wanted to get your opinion on whether it's a good deal or not. The lens looks clean and functional. I've always wondered about the Hasselblad (I already own a pentax 67ii) and just wondered if this was a good or bad deal.

The metering seems to be working as well but I always use an external spotter unless it's my 35mm. The PM5E has a lot of chipped paint but the lens and body as well as the film back is in good condition.

I guess it's an ok deal given the way it's equipped, if it had a waist level finder instead of the metered one 620 would be a bit much for a 500C IMHO.
It looks like you're working with a dealer, do they have any information as to the camera's history?

To be honest, I wished they had included the waist level finder but that's all it came with. According to the dealer, they have very little detail history except it's working (they had their technician check it out - how good is the guy I don't know.).

I'm thinking of sending it off for a CLA but aside from it's paint chipped finder, everything else looks okay. Should I spend the extra cash for that?

In an ideal world, sure, a preventive CLA for an older camera with unknown history is a good idea.
But, I'd probably just use it.
By the way, you can get PDF manuals and other info here;

Thanks for the advice. I plan to, I want to fine out if there any problems with the camera quickly.

Thanks for the link as well, but I already downloaded copy from butkins

Nice looking Hasselblad. From the prices I've been seeing around here, that's a very good deal.

Enjoy.

Thanks. Was worried I bought a bad deal since at that point, I know very little about Hasselblad 500c

You did well. You will really like the prism once you realize that a waist level finder has that left right reversal thing going on. Enjoy!

When I had one, I thought the 45 degree prism was much more comfortable to use than the eye level. I also preferred the pistol grip rather than the side grip.
With that said, around here they're advertised for a bit more with the chrome lens and WL finder so think you got a good deal.

When I bought the Hasselblad with the waist level finder and the PME prism. I started using it with the prism and never used the WLF, which is carried as ballast in my camera bag.
