I've been looking at 500-series model on line, and some model numbers have a "star" or asterisk next to the name. The two I have noticed are "*500 C/M" and "*503CX". What does it mean if a particular model has this additional symbol in the name?

Thanks,
Rob

Do you have any links or specific examples? I am not aware of any "official" designation like that for the bodies.
For the C lenses there are later ones with the Zeiss T* coating and "T*" is engraved in red on the front ring. Older lenses without the multi-coating don't have the designation.
It's probably just something someone has added for emphasis.

Never heard of such a thing. eBay listings can be quite peculiar at times.

I'm not sure I can without posting ebay links, which I thought were illegal...
Not in the least, unless you are doing it to promote your own listing.

And even that is okay, if you are a subscriber and you are posting the link in your own classified for sale thread, after diligently trying for a while to sell the item here.
