I have had problems with the film advance on my 203FE. There have been a couple of threads where other 200 series owners have been looking for someone to work on their cameras. Reading those, I have called every person and shop listed looking for help, including Hasselblad USA, Europe and Sweden. All said they would not work on the 200 series. On a whim I called a very small mom and pop shop in Miami, about an hour from where I live, where I had sourced a part for my Nikon F100. When I described my problem the tech said he recognized the issue and had the part needed to fix it. I hopped in my car and dropped the camera off. Just got it back and so far it's working perfectly. The repair comes with a 6 month warranty so we'll see....

They work on a lot of older cameras. There is no mention in their one page website of Hasselblad, Rollieflex, Pentax etc. but they work on all of these. I suggest if you haven't been able to find someone or a part you need to get your camera repaired, you at least give them a shout:

Thank you very much for this post. Finding places for Hasselblad 200 series repairs has become difficult and any active sources are greatly appreciated.

Wow, how lucky can you get?!

Thanks for posting this. I have three 200 series Hassys and worry about future repairs.

Would you mind saying what was wrong with your camera? Interesting they had a needed part.

Calico,

Sorry this is a bit late, I am not informed when replies are made to this thread.

The film winding crank was not working. I could wind it once and take a photo, but when I tried it again the mirror would not return as it should. I could press the button under the crank and get it to let the mirror down. At that point sometimes I could take a shot and sometimes pressing the shutter did nothing. Apparently the problem was a gear that went wonky. Fortunately Southern Photo happened to have the part. If it had been any sort of electronic issue there would be no way to repair the camera.

I should have said in my OP that anyone who is having a problem with their camera, Hasselblad or otherwise, should call Southern first to talk to their tech to make sure they understand and can address the problem.

As of approx. 2001 or 2002, Southern is the company that Fuji USA directed me to send my Fuji GW690II camera for a shutter repair. I assume that are the "authorized" (whatever that means) repair for USA customers.

Excellent news! I just got my XPan II repaired by Wilco Jansen, and I think he also might repair the 200 series.

Thanks. Interesting to hear what the problem was. Understand how one should call Southern before sending a camera to them, to make sure they feel they can fix.

At least there is this possible repair place for 200 series Hasselblads!

No problem about late reply : )
