i have a Hasselblad 201f that I have been using without a problem until recently. Now it jams and the shutter will not fire, but only if the film back is attached. Without the back attached it fires normally. Also, my 150mm lens aperture does not seem to be working correctly. If I operate the aperature while the shutter is open I can see that the aperature is not changing. Aperatures on my 50mm and 80mm seem to work fine.

Can anyone shed any light on either of these problems. Both problems only recently started after using the equipment without issue.

I am not familiar with the Hasselblad 201f, however it sounds like a bent pin on the film back. First try another back. If is a back you might as well have a CLA done to it.

Thanks for the response. I tried all four backs that I own and they all did the same. As I mentioned, it was fine up until recently. I let someone that was interested in purchasing the camera work with it for a while, and that is when it went bad.

OK the camera is telling you that it wants to be with you and not to sell it to a stranger or even a friend.

When you first posted this I was going to ask you if someone dropped it, but...

One lesson I have learned in life is that if you lend a camera to someone do not expect it to be working correctly when it is returned. Virtual guarantee that they will screw something up. Odds are the person you lent the camera to didn't buy it because he dropped it and didn't want to buy a messed up camera.

Good luck.

Just a wild guess, but to me it seems like when you mount a back, the body believes the dark slide has not been removed. I would look at the dark-slide-release pin/lever/arm on the body.

Yes, I found that the pin in the back of the body that triggers the exposure indicator is not retracing so it is holding mechanism that normally releases when the dark slide is removed. It don't know why this started happening.
