Hasselblad 2000 and 500 series. Same back?

Quick question. Does the Hasselblad 2000 series use the same film back as the 500 series? I'm thinking of buying a 2000 so I will have a focal plane shutter. I want to be able to put any glass on the front.
I was hoping I could use my 501CM backs.
Any suggestions/caveats?

You can use 500 series lenses (with leaf shutters) on 2000 series cameras, but not the other way around. The magazines are interchangeable from the earliest models to the most current.

Judging by his signature warning, he must be...

One caveat: do not (!) even try to put a Polaroid 80 back on a focal plane shutter Hasselblad.
These Polaroid 80 backs have a protruding glass plate that will get in the way of the shutter curtains. Total destruction (of the expensive camera, not the cheap back) will be the result.
Polaroid 100 and later Polaroid backs sold by Hasselblad are fine.

No experience with it, but on photo.net there are posting about attempting to move the focal plane shutter with a ball point pen then asking where they can get the shutter repaired.

There are guys around here with way more experiance of 'blads than me but I have recently bought a 2000 series blad. The issue with the shutter is that the titanium curtains do not retract whne the back is removed, so any damage is directly to the shutter curtains. I do not think that Hasselblad repair these anymore but there are places that can repair them - I found one in the UK before commititng to the camera.

Having said that, I got a back plate to cover the exposed shutter if I have the back off for any length of time - fussy but better safe than sorry.

I believe the 2000FC/FCW, 203 and 205 have a shutter that retracts when the back is removed.

Both 200/2000 series and 500 series backs will work on either camera, with one caveat- there are some features of the later 200 series backs will not work on a 500 series camera- the electronic meter coupling exposure compensation functions will not work. But the main function, holding and transporting film, will of course work, so unless you have a compelling reason to get the 200 E series backs, just get the 500 series and save yourself a lot of money.

Only the 2000 FC does not.
The 2000 FC/M, and both 2000 FCW and 2003 FCW do.
