So a few weeks ago I was wondering if my Hasselblad 201F would work with a soft shutter release. Now the the price on the soft shutter releases that come in different colors and with different designs is a little bit pricey, so instead of jumping the gun and ordering one to end up finding a problem, I chose to order a cheap one off Adorama.

When I got it the first thing I noticed was that it wouldn't fit with the lens on. Well, not a big deal. There are mini soft shutter releases for a reason. So I took the lens off and tried to screw the soft shutter release on. Now here's where I ran into problems. It seems when I try to screw it on the release hits the the shutter release meant for the cable release. A quick comparison between the 200 series shutter button and 500 series shutter button shows a pretty obvious difference in length.

Basically, I'm wondering if others have run into this problem with the Hasselblad 200 series (not being able to use soft shutter releases). And if there's a solution for this.

If there isn't, not a big deal.

I wouldn't bother with a 'soft' release.

All it is is a large surface.
You still need to exert the same pressure, apply the same force to trip the shutter.
Nothing gets softer. Only gets (as you have noticed) in the way.
