The gallon container of Rapid Fixer stock solution is now about 1/3 full. The remaining solution has turned very cloudy and kinda doesn't have that fixer smell anymore...there are floaties in it too...bad?

I would dump it. Just curious, what kind of rapid fixer do you use and why?

I use Ilford Hypam, readily available, reasonably priced in 1 gallon jugs.

Well it cleared the film but, I'm going to take the rest to the haz mat guys.

Jerold,
I use Lauder Chemicals Rapid fixer 874-1. I've been nursing this gallon jug for a couple of years. Prior to this, I was using Ilford Rapid fixer but, there was something I disliked about it...I don't remember what. I think it had something to do with TMY. Anyway, the Lauder chemicals fixer is cheap $17 per gallon and works fantastically for all of the many film I've used it with and also with two RC papers I use - Ilford MGIV and Arista EDU. I have another gallon and I think I'll decant this one into four quart sized bottles when I open it.

EDIT: oh, and I can get it from Keeble & Shuchat - a local place.
