Hey friends of film,

I was wondering if there is someone in this forum who has tried the Adox RA-4 Kit since I can't find any infos/review/tests of this kit.
I ordered it anyway and it is on the way but it still would be nice if someone could tell me about their experience with it.

This will be my first time doing color printing. I couldn't find the Kodak kit that most people on here seem to use anywhere online. Only Tetenal and Adox. Since the Adox kit is cheaper and sold in a smaller amount (for 2500ml instead of 5000ml), I chose that one.
If anyone knows where to find the Kodak kit in Germany I would be thankful if you messaged me!
I also ordered the Adox paper since it was the only color paper in the online shop but they say it's Fuji Crystal Archive Paper cut into pieces,

Did anyone ever use the RA-4 kit and can tell me about it?
Is it usable at room temperature?
I will develop in trays and try to keep it at 35°C in a water bath at my first try but of course room temperature would make it much more easier to handle.

Thanks in advance for any input you guys can give me.

C.

I haven't used the Adox kit either but my understanding is that any RA4 kit works fine at 20C i.e. room temperature but development needs about 2 mins and not 45 secs required at 35C

I always do RA4 in trays at room temp, 1m30s dev time. Haven't tried the Adox kit but there's a very convenient seller of color chemistry (Fuji, Champion and I believe also kodak) in Germany. Bigger volumes than the Adox kit, but *much* cheaper per liter.

I have not tried the Adox kit. I would give it a try rather than try to use up 5 liters of chemistry. Warm chemicals makes things go faster. The temperature doesn't need to be exact with RA4, as long as you give it enough time. I like to stick close to the recommended temperature, the more consistent the better. Getting the initial filtration can be a challenge. Stick to one type of film and it goes a lot easier.

Thanks for all your answers!
One question left: Should I prepare the whole solution even though I'll only need 500ml? I have read that the mixed up solution lasts longer than the concentrates? The manufactor says otherwise but I trust the experiences of the users.
