I have one of these scanners but my house is entirely Mac. I have Macs from a 2015 iMac up to a 2024 M4 Mac Mini, with the latest available OS's on each. The Plustek website does not list drivers for a Mac with that scanner, only Windows. I have a bunch of 35mm cameras and right now the best I can do is scan them directly on the glass of a V600. I want to see what a dedicated 35mm scanner could do. I don't have the V600 holder for 35mm, and I've tried the Plustek holder on the V600 but it is too high off the glass.

VueScan will work with the Plustek 7200i and with any Mac OS.

I never got on very well with the OEM 35mm film holder of my V600. One solution I've used is the DigitaLIZA scanning mask. It's slow, having to load the individual strips, but the height works very well with my particular V600 and the negatives are held very flat.

Thanks. I'll look into Vuescan. I need the power brick too to make it work. I have a whole pile of old DC converters and none of them are 15v.

I have that scanner - the QUATO version that is - the website filmscanner.info says that the QUATO IntelliScan 5000 is the same as the Plustek OpticFilm 7200i - but they have actually made a Mac-driver for it..

..I actually always used that scanner with an old Window 7 laptop (or, briefly, on a Windows 7 install - via Parallels - on my Mac) - have never tried to install the scanner (or SilverFast, for that matter) on a MacOS directly.

Good luck, and let me know how it goes!

I use this scanner on a Mac (desktop, running Monterey version 12.7.6); I use both SilverFast and Vuescan with no hardware or software issues.

I've had both a 7200 and 8200i and used VueScan with them on my Macs. No issues, they seemed to just work out of the box.

..can confirm - have just tried with a 2019 (Intel) MacBook Pro running Sequoia (15.4) - scanner works (with VueScan) 👍

Unfortunately wasn't able to try it with Silverfast as my SF is so old (v6) that the installer doesn't run on modern versions of OSX it seems 🫤

I use a Plustek 7500i with VueScan. I use it with a M3 MacBook Air and it works fine. All it needs is a USB A to USB C adapter. It also worked well with a 2017 MacBook Pro, and the MacBook Pro I had before that.

Vuescan has the most up to date scanner drivers for Mac and Windows. Sometimes it is even mandatory to install vuescan first, before using the OEM scanner software.

I guess I'll have to buy the power adapter if I want to use it. I've been scanning 35mm with my V600 with the negatives directly on the glass and they're OK but could be sharper. I used the 7200's negative holder with the v600 and it holds them too high off the glass and gives a very soft focus.
