I was listening to him speak in a Video about several of the Special Effects that were used in Wizard Of Oz.
Ever wonder how they did that transition from B&W to Color.?
1. The whole thing (the transition scene) was shot in color.
2. They used Judy's stand-in. She wore a B&W dress and the set was also painted in B&W. Her name might have been Caren Marsh. She was only shot from the back while holding the dog. As she opens the front door of the house... she briefly steps out of frame... she then hands the dog to Judy (who is dressed in the normal color dress) and Judy steps back into frame and into history with that magical jump to color.
